In order for any tax preparer to do a good job on your tax return, you must prepare the information. You must keep track of all possible deductions such as:
- Child & Dependent Care Credits
- Education Expenses
- Contributions
- Interest Payments----such as business loans, home mortgages
- Adjustments-----such as IRAs, Alimony Payments, Insurance deductions
- Unreimbursed Losses------such as theft, fire damage
- Work related expenses--such as job hunting expenses, safety equipment, union dues
- Reimbursed Business Expenses---such as travel, home office (business only)
- Medical Expenses & Reimbursements---such as medical mileage, insurance premiums
- Landlord Rental Expenses-----such as advertising, taxes, repairs, insurance
- Taxes paid----such as personal property (state, city), real estate (state, city)
You can pay your child under 18 years of age to work for your business without paying social security tax. You can take the amount paid to your child in wages and set up an IRA for him or her.
